Varanasi
Varanasi or Banaras, mentioned in the scriptures as Kashi, is less of a city and more of a dreamy experience. It is a paragon of Indian culture, philosophy, traditions and spiritual ethos since times immemorial. It is among the Sapta Puries, meaning seven sacred cities of Ancient India. The city is located on the bank of River Ganga which has two tributaries in the city: Varuna and Assi; hence the name Varanasi. The combination of Kashi – the holy city, Ganga- the sacred river and Shiva- the supreme God, makes Varanasi an immortal destination. Today, Varanasi remains the hub of cultural and holy activities. The Banarasi Silk Sarees and Brocades are known worldwide for its elegance.
Mother India Temple
This temple is situated in the Kashi Vidyapeeth Campus and is one of its kind. This temple is not dedicated to any deity but to the human manifestation of India popularly called Mother India or Bharat Mata in Hindi. And this temple even not houses the statue or bust of Bharat Mata; instead it has a very big relief map of India carved out of marble.
Tulsi Manas Mandir
It is one of the most famous temples in Varanasi. It is made up of white marble and the beautiful garden adds to its attractiveness. The temple is dedicated to the Lord Rama.
Sankat Mochan temple
It is one of the oldest temples in the city dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is situated on the banks of River Assi, quite close to the Benaras Hindu University (BHU). The name “Sankat Mochan’’ means reliever of troubles. This temple has the unique distinction of having Lord Hanuman facing his Lord Rama, whom he worshiped with steadfast and selfless devotion.
Kaal Bhairav Temple
It is dedicated to Lord Kaal Bhairav, who is known as the 'Kotwal of Varanasi' (protector of Varanasi), it is said that without his permission no one can stay in Kashi. Bhairav is considered a fearsome manifestation of Lord Shiva who wears a garland of skulls and carries a club of peacock feathers. The name Kaal Bhairav means both Death and Fate. Even Death, it is said, is afraid of Kaal Bhairav.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple
It is a major sacred attraction, dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city. The temple houses a Shivalinga, which is said to be one amongst the twelve Jyotirlinga. About 800 kg of gold being used to cap the spire by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, hence it is also known as the Golden Temple in Varanasi. In the evening visit Dashashwamedh Ghat to experience the Ganga aarti. Overnight at Varanasi.
Anand Bhavan Museum
The erstwhile ancestral home of Jawaharlal Nehru. Here, many momentous decisions, events, related to the freedom struggle took place. The main building houses a museum which displays the memorabilia of the Nehru family
Allahabad Fort
The massive fort built by Emperor Akbar in 1583 A.D. The fort stands on the bank of the Yamuna near the confluence site. In its prime, the fort was unrivalled for its design, construction and craftsmanship
Khusro Bagh
It is a large walled garden and burial complex located in muhalla Khuldabad close to the Allahabad Junction railway station. Situated over forty acres and shaped as a quadrangle it includes the tombs
Bhool Bhulaiya at Bada Imambara
The Imambara is primarily known for its incredible maze, known as Bhul Bhulaiya locally, which is located on the upper floor of the monument. The Bara Imambara has a unique style of construction. The central hall of Bara Imambara, which is said to be the largest arched hall in the world, measures 50 meters long and goes up to a height of 15 meters. The whole building is made of Lakhanui bricks, which are a bit small in size, and lime plaster. No wood or metal has been used in the construction (Except for the galleries in the interior). The Bara Imambara is worth seeing in its own right, but the unusual labyrinth of corridors on its upper floor (Bhul Bhulaiya) is what steals the show!
Rumi Darwaza
Rumi Darwaza is said to be identical in design to an ancient portal at Constantinople in Turkey and is also referred to as Turkish Gate. It is a huge ornate structure, marked by an eight faceted chhatri (umbrella) in its uppermost part. In earlier times it was used to mark the entrance to the Old Lucknow City
Dudhwa
Dudhwa national park located in the areas of Lakhimpur & Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, lying adjacent to the Indo-Nepal border brings together two most incredible sanctuaries of the area namely, Kishanpur and Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuaries. Dudhwa lies in the unique Terai ecosystem which is inhabited by 38 species of mammals and approximately 400 species of birds. It is home to few critically endangered species like tigers, bears, swamp deer, Ganges river dolphins and fishing cats too.
Day 1: Varanasi
Arrive at Varanasi Airport and transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival check in to the hotel. Subject to availability of time visit: Mother India temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Sankat Mochan temple, Kaal Bhairav temple and Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Day 2: Varanasi – Sarnath -Varanasi
Early in the morning, step out for taking the enjoyment of boat ride in the Ganges river while exploring all the bathing Ghats. After boat ride return to hotel for breakfast. After freshen up leave for an excursion tour to Sarnath. Sarnath, is one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage centers in the world. Sarnath, is located just 10 km away from Varanasi. It is believed that after attaining the Enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, it was here that Lord Buddha preached his first sermon, sanctified as Maha Dharm Chakra Pravartan. The great Dhamekh Stupa and several other structures stand testimony to the importance the place enjoyed at that time. Visit the Dhamekh Stupa and the Archaelogical Museum, Chaukhandi Stupa (The Chaukhandi Stupa is the place where, during his first visit to Sarnath, Lord Buddha met his first five disciples), Ashok Pillar, Thai temple and the Tibetan temple. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Varanasi.
Day 3: Varanasi – Vindhyachal – Allahabad
After breakfast, check out from hotel and proceed to Vindhyachal, a town in Mirzapur district, situated on the bank of River Ganga is one of the most respected Shaktipeeths of Goddess Vindhyavasini (approximately 2 hours drive). After darshan, proceed to Allahabad (approximately 2 hours) or Prayagraj as it is now called - Prayagraj is crowned in ancient scriptures as ‘Teertharaj’ and is considered one of the holiest pilgrimage centres of India. On getting Allahabad, head to Triveni Sangam to take a holy dip and explore other places having historical & religious significance. Triveni sangam - The sacred Sangam is the confluence of three of the holiest rivers in Hindu mythology – Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. At the Sangam, the waters of the Ganges and the Yamuna can be distinctly seen to merge into one). Later, proceed to your pre-booked hotel in Allahabad. Overnight at Allahabad.
DAY 4: Allahabad – Lucknow (5 hrs drive):
After breakfast check out the hotel and before proceeding to Lucknow, visit history at Anand Bhavan Museum, Allahabad fort, Khusro Bagh, Hanuman Mandir near the Sangam. Overnight at Lucknow.
Day 5: Lucknow
After breakfast, enjoy the city tour of Lucknow. The city tour will include visit to Bhool Bhulaiya at Bada Imambara. Visit Rumi Darwaza, Clock Tower, Chattar Manzil.
Day 6: Lucknow – Dudhwa National Park
After breakfast, check out from hotel and proceed to Dudhwa National Park (approximately 5 hours drive), upon arrival check into the resort. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Dudhwa.
Day 7: Dudhwa National Park
Early morning go for the Jungle safari in Dudhwa National Park. After lunch proceed for afternoon Jungle Safari in Kishanpaur Wildlife Sanctuary. Overnight at Dudhwa.
Day 8: Depart for Lucknow
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and proceed to Lucknow Airport and fly back to Mumbai with sweet memories of your tour.
